Instant Publish

Publish your documentation instantly. No build steps, no CI/CD pipelines, no waiting. Click publish and your docs are live.

No builds. No deploys. Click publish, your docs are live.

The old way#

With most documentation tools, publishing looks like this:

  1. Write your docs
  2. Commit to git
  3. Wait for CI to run
  4. Wait for the build
  5. Wait for the deploy
  6. Check if it actually worked
  7. Find a typo, repeat steps 2-6

That's a lot of waiting just to fix a typo.

The Dokly way#

  1. Write your docs
  2. Click publish
  3. Done

Your changes are live in seconds. Not minutes. Seconds.

I've shipped typo fixes in the time it takes other tools to start their build process.

How it works#

Every page has two states:

  • Draft — Only you can see it. Work in progress.
  • Published — Live on your docs site. Everyone can see it.

Toggle between them in Settings, or use the publish button on individual pages.

Publishing a page#

Write your content

Use the editor to create your page.

Hit publish

Click the publish toggle or go to Settings → General → Published.

That's it

Visit your docs URL. Your content is live.

Publishing your whole site#

Your entire project also has a published/draft state.

  • Project unpublished — Your whole docs site is private
  • Project published — Your docs are public at yourproject.dokly.co
Individual pages can still be drafts even when your project is published. Handy for work-in-progress content.

Why instant matters 🏃#

When publishing is fast, you write better docs. You fix things immediately instead of thinking "I'll batch that with the next deploy." You iterate faster. You ship more.

That's the whole point.
